In December 2020, a number of amendments1 to the Federal Law on Syndicated Loans2 and the Civil Code of the Russian Federation3 with respect to provisions on pledge management agreements and some other laws with respect to provisions related to syndicated lending were adopted and published. Most of the Amendments entered into force on 21 June 2021.
Introduction
Now it is time to draw the first conclusions regarding the practical implications of the Amendments for the Russian syndicated loan market. Overall, the Amendments were a logical continuation of the trend to make Russian laws more attractive from the perspective of syndicated lending regulation.
